engaging Brent in the creation of better, greener places to live and work
Barn Hill Conservation Group are a group of volunteers who have been working for 28 years, 50 Sundays a year, at Fryent Country Park. They clear footpaths, cutting back vegetation etc and cleared 4-5 km of paths last year. They plant trees, restore hedgerows, clear and clean the ponds, plant daffodils, maintain fruit tree and clear litter and fly-tipped materials (200 bags last year).
All this work is threatened because following staff and vehicle cuts in the Parks Department, the Council can no longer provide a driver and vehicle on Sundays to transport their tools from Roe Green Walled Garden, Roe Green Park, Kingsbury to Fryent Country Park.
Without this transport their work cannot take place and the Park will become overgrown, littered and neglected. The Group is looking for ways to resolve this crisis and any help would be appreciated.
What is required:
1. Medium sized van and driver 50 Sundays a year picking up tools at 9.30am and delivering to a prearranged drop-off site in the Park. Collecting the tools at 12.20pm and dropping them back at the Walled Garden.
2. Help towards costs of fuel and insurance if not included in above.
There will be various ways of providing one or both of the above. The Conservation Group would welcome any suggestions, offers, contacts that could help them continue their work.
